The district of Codo del Pozuzo is located in the province of Puerto Inca in the Huánuco region in central Peru . The district was established on November 19, 1984. The district of Codo del Pozuzo has an area of about 3228 km². The 2017 census counted 7,101 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5422, in 2007 it was 6067. The administrative seat of the district is the town of Codo del Pozuzo , located at an altitude of about 380 m , with 1988 inhabitants (as of 2017). Codo del Pozuzo is located just 65 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Puerto Inca . About 4 km west-southwest of Codo del Pozuzo is the eponymous place ( codo Spanish for "elbow" or "knee"), at which the River Pozuzo makes a sharp bend from north to south-east.
Geographical location
The district of Codo del Pozuzo is located in the southwest of the province of Puerto Inca. It is located in the Vorandinen zone on the western edge of the Amazon basin . In the west rise the mountains of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The Río Pozuzo flows through the southwest of the district, the Río Sungarayacu drains the northeast of the district .
The district of Codo del Pozuzo borders in the southwest with the district Chaglla ( province Pachitea ), in the northwest with the district Daniel Alomías Robles ( province Leoncio Prado ), in the north with the districts Padre Abad and Irázola (both in the province Padre Abad ), in the North-east to the Puerto Inca district , to the east to the Yuyapichis district and to the south to the Palcazú and Pozuzo districts (both in the Oxapampa province ).
