The district of Yuyapichis is located in the province of Puerto Inca in the Huánuco region in central Peru . The district was established on November 19, 1984. The Yuyapichis District has an area of 2088 km². The 2017 census counted 5769 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5048, in 2007 it was 5652. The administrative seat of the district is the village of Yuyapichis with 1286 inhabitants located on the left bank of the Río Pachitea at an altitude of 250 m (as of 2017). Yuyapichis is located 28 km south of the provincial capital Puerto Inca . In the field living indigenous people of the Ashaninka .
Geographical location
The district of Yuyapichis is located in the southeast of the province of Puerto Inca. The district is located in a suburban region on the western edge of the Amazon basin . In the east rise the mountains of the Sira Mountains . The strongly meandering Río Pachitea flows through the district centrally in a northerly direction. The national road 5N from Alexander von Humboldt and Puerto Inca in the north to Ciudad Constitución in the south runs further west. In the district in the west are the catchment areas of the left tributaries Río Santa Isabel and Río Yanayacu and in the east the catchment area of the right tributary Río Yuyapichis.
The district of Yuyapichis borders in the west on the districts Codo del Pozuzo , in the north on the district Puerto Inca , in the extreme northeast on the district Iparía ( province Coronel Portillo , Ucayali region ) and in the east and south on the district Constitución ( province Oxapampa) , Pasco region ).
