The Padre Abad District is located in the Padre Abad Province in the Ucayali region in northeastern Peru . The district was formed on November 13, 1961. It has an area of ​​4662 km². The 2017 census counted 29,440 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 25,633. The district administration is based in the provincial capital Aguaytía, 300  m high on the west bank of the Río Aguaytía , with 15,587 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Padre Abad District is located in the west of the Padre Abad Province. The Río Aguaytía crosses the district in a predominantly northeastern direction. The district lies on the western edge of the Amazon basin . The Cordillera Azul runs to the west .

The Padre Abad district is bordered to the west by the province of Leoncio Prado ( Huánuco ), in the northwest on the district Contamana ( province of Ucayali , Loreto region ), in the northeast on the district Curimaná , on the east by the district IRAZOLA and the south by the district Codo del Pozuzo ( Puerto Inca Province, Huánuco Region).
