The Ucayali Province is located in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The province has an area of 29,293 km². At the 2017 census, 54,637 people lived in the province. Ten years earlier the population was 61,816. The administrative seat is Contamana .
Geographical location
The province of Ucayali is located in the south of the Loreto region in the Amazon lowlands . The Río Ucayali flows through the east of the province in a northerly direction. In the west, the province extends to the Cordillera Azul , a mountain range of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera . The province of Ucayali borders the province Requena to the north and east, the Ucayali region to the south and the San Martín region to the west .
Administrative division
Ucayali Province is divided into six districts. The Contamana district is the seat of the provincial administration.
