The Mariscal Ramón Castilla province is located in the Loreto region in northern Peru . The province has an area of ​​37,413 km². At the 2017 census, 49,072 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 32,900, in 2007 54,829. The province was named after Ramón Castilla (1797-1867), an officer and president of Peru several times. Administrative center is the most Amazonas located Caballococha .

Geographical location

The province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla is located in the east of the Loreto region in the Amazon lowlands . The Río Yavarí runs along the southeastern provincial border and forms the state border with Brazil . The Amazon flows through the north of the province in an easterly direction.
