The province of Requena is located in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The province has an area of 49,478 km². At the 2017 census, 58,511 people lived in the province. Ten years earlier the population was 65,692. The administrative seat is the city of Requena .
Geographical location
The province of Requena is located in the southeast of the Loreto region in the Amazon lowlands . The Río Ucayali flows through the northwest of the province and forms two river arms. The Río Tapiche drains much of the province. The provincial capital lies at its confluence with the Río Ucayali. The Río Yavarí runs along the northeastern provincial border, which also forms the state border with Brazil . The province of Requena borders in the northeast on the province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla , in the north the province of Maynas , in the northwest on the province Loreto , in the west on the province Alto Amazonas , in the southwest on the province Ucayali and in the south on the province Coronel Portillo (region Ucayali ).
