The district of Soplin is located in the Requena province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on July 20, 1946. It extends over an area of ​​4698 km². The 2017 census counted 666 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 502, in 2007 it was 613. The district administration is located in the 123  m high village of Nueva Alejandría (Curinga) with 232 inhabitants (as of 2017). Nueva Alejandría is 107 km south of the provincial capital Requena .

Geographical location

The Soplin district is located in the east of the Requena province. It extends over the catchment area of the Río Blanco , right tributary of the Río Tapiche . East of the Río Blanco is the Matsés National Reserve .

The district of Soplin borders in the southwest on the district Alto Tapiche , in the west on the district Tapiche , in the northeast on the district Requena and in the east on the district Yaquerana .
