The Yaquerana district is located in the Requena Province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on July 2, 1943. It extends over an area of ​​11,049 km². The 2017 census counted 2258 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1618, in 2007 it was 2396. The district administration is located in the 130  m high village of Colonia Angamos with 840 inhabitants (as of 2017). Colonia Angamos is located almost 110 km east of the provincial capital Requena .

Geographical location

The Yaquerana District is located in the far northeast of the Requena Province. The Río Yaquirana flows north along the eastern district and state border. Its left tributary, Río Galvez, crosses the district in a predominantly northeastern direction. In the south of the district is the Sierra del Divisor National Park .

The district of Yaquerana borders in the west on the districts Alto Tapiche , Soplin , Requena , Jenaro Herrera and Saquena , in the northeast on the district Yavarí ( Mariscal Ramón Castilla province ) and in the east on Brazil .
