Caballococha is the capital of the Mariscal Ramón Castilla province in the Loreto region in northeast Peru . The city is also the administrative seat of the Ramón Castilla district . The city had 9,051 inhabitants at the 2017 census, 10 years earlier the population was 7,885.

The city of Caballococha is located at an altitude of 75  m in the Peruvian Amazon lowlands 1.3 km from the southern river bank of the Amazon . On the opposite bank of the Amazon River is Colombia . The regional capital of Iquitos is 300 km west of Caballococha.
