The Inahuaya district is located in the Ucayali province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on February 16, 1962. It has an area of ​​630 km². The 2017 census counted 1788 inhabitants. In 1993, the population was 1,433, in 2007 the 2,143th seat of the district administration is the 131  meters high on the west bank of the Ucayali River town located Inahuaya with 1,046 inhabitants (2017). Inahuaya is 38 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Contamana .

Geographical location

The Inahuaya district is located in the Peruvian part of the Amazon basin in the central north of the Ucayali province. The district has a lengthwise extension in east-west direction of 40 km and a maximum width of almost 25 km. It lies on the west bank of the Río Ucayali and extends in the west to the foot of the Cordillera Azul .

The Inahuaya district is bordered by the Pampa Hermosa district to the south and the Vargas Guerra district to the north .
