The Pampa Hermosa district is located in the Ucayali Province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on September 15, 1961. It has an area of 7477 km². The 2017 census counted 5388 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3603, in 2007 it was 7322. The district administration is located in the village of Pampa Hermosa, 132 m high on the west bank of the Río Ucayali , with 1148 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pampa Hermosa is located 35 km northwest of the provincial capital Contamana .
Geographical location
The Pampa Hermosa district is located in the west of the Ucayali province. The longitudinal extension in the WSW-ONE direction is almost 130 km. The district extends from the Cordillera Azul in the west to the Río Ucayali in the east on the western edge of the Amazon basin . The Río Cushabatay drains the area east to the Río Ucayali. The area consists mainly of rainforest . In the southwest lies the Cordillera Azul National Park .
The Pampa Hermosa district borders in the west on the districts Alto Biavo , Baja Biavo (both in the province of Bellavista ), Shamboyacu and Tres Unidos ( province of Picota ), in the north on the districts of Chazuta and Humbayoc (both in the province of San Martín ), im To the northeast to the districts of Sarayacu , Vargas Guerra and Inahuaya and to the east to the district of Contamana .
