The province of Bellavista is one of ten provinces in the San Martín region in northern Peru . It has an area of 8050.9 km². In the 2017 census, 55,033 inhabitants were counted in the province. In 1993 the population was 34,414, in 2007 it was 49,293. The provincial administration is located in the city of Bellavista .
Geographical location
The province of Bellavista is located in the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera . It extends over the catchment area of the Río Biavo , a right tributary of the Río Huallaga . This crosses the north of the province. The Cordillera Azul National Park extends over the southern part of the province .
The province of Bellavista borders in the southwest with the province of Tocache , in the west with the province of Mariscal Cáceres , in the northwest with the province Huallaga , in the north with the provinces El Dorado and Picota , in the east with the province Ucayali ( region Loreto ) and in the south the province of Leoncio Prado ( Huánuco region ).
Administrative division
The province of Bellavista is divided into six districts. The Bellavista district is the seat of the provincial administration.
