Peter Cerwenka

Peter Cerwenka (born February 6, 1942 in Graz ; † February 25, 2020 in Vienna ) was an Austrian transport scientist . From 1992 to 2003 he was professor and head of the Institute for Transport System Planning at the Vienna University of Technology . Cerwenka is best known for his critical statements on the subject of climate policy and transport, as well as the ethics of transport planning.

Life

Cerwenka studied civil and industrial engineering at Graz University of Technology and received her doctorate there in 1968 . In 1974 he completed his habilitation in traffic planning and traffic engineering at the TH Darmstadt . He then worked for many years at the Swiss consulting firm Prognos AG in Basel , whose transport division was merged into progtrans AG . From 1989 to 1992 he held visiting professorships in Vienna and Basel, until he finally moved to the Vienna University of Technology as head of the Institute for Transport System Planning on March 1, 1992. He retired on September 30, 2003, but continued to work as a reviewer and scientist.
