Peter Christian Hansen
Peter Christian Hansen (born March 12, 1853 in Flensburg ; † October 20, 1935 ) was a German social politician in Schleswig-Holstein .
Life
Hansen was the State Insurance Council in Schleswig-Holstein. He volunteered for job creation, in prison welfare, in the poor, in the fight against alcoholism , but above all for the construction of small apartments. The Flensburg Workers' Building Association was founded on his initiative in 1878. This later became a model for the establishment of other cooperatives in Schleswig-Holstein, for example in 1889 for the workers' association for Gaarden, Kiel and the surrounding area and in 1900 the Kiel construction and savings association. In the following years a whole network of building cooperatives developed . In 1900 Hansen also founded the Association of Schleswig-Holstein Housing Cooperatives, today the Association of North German Housing Companies , which he led as association director until 1922.
In his hometown of Flensburg, the Peter-Christian-Hansen-Weg was named in his honor. In Kiel the Peter-Hansen-Straße was named after him.
