from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter F. Stadler (born December 24, 1965 in Vienna) is an Austrian bioinformatician and chemist .

Life

Stadler grew up in Berndorf (Lower Austria) . He studied chemistry, mathematics, physics and astronomy at the University of Vienna . In 1990 he did his doctorate in chemistry under Peter Schuster . From 1990 to 1991 he was a postdoc with Manfred Eigen at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. He completed his habilitation in theoretical chemistry at the University of Vienna in 1994 and worked there until 2002, most recently as an associate professor. Stadler has been Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Leipzig since September 2002 , external faculty member of the Santa Fe Institute since 1994 and corresponding member abroad of the mathematical and natural science class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2010 .

Act

Stadler deals with evolutionary bioinformatics and RNA bioinformatics at the genome level (RNomics). He contributed to the clarification of the role of RNA in gene regulation . He is one of the most cited structural and evolutionary biologists in German-speaking countries.
