Peter Farmer (athlete)
Peter Farmer ( Peter John Farmer; born June 25, 1952 in Sydney ) is a former Australian hammer thrower .
In 1974 he won bronze at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch , and in 1976 he was twelfth at the Olympic Games in Montreal .
A third place at the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in Düsseldorf was followed by a victory at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton.
In 1979 he was fourth at the World Cup in Athletics in Montreal , and in 1980 he was eliminated from the qualification at the Olympic Games in Moscow .
In 1977 and 1980 he was French champion, 1978 and 1979 English champion and 1978 Scottish champion. Starting for the University of Texas at El Paso , he was NCAA champion in hammer throw in 1974 and NCAA indoor champion in weight throwing in 1975 .
On August 14, 1979 he set an Australian record in Vanves with 75.90 m, which was broken in 1994 by Sean Carlin .
