YouVersion (also known as Bible.com or Bible App) is Bible software for Android , iOS (also for Apple Watch ), Windows Phone , Windows and other operating systems . The YouVersion Bible app has 2059 Bible translations in over 1397 languages, audio Bibles for popular versions, offline functions, as well as hundreds of Bible plans on specific topics and devotions .
history
YouVersion started in 2008. In November 2013, the Bible app for children was introduced. 13 months later, the app had 5 million installs in 6 languages. YouVersion is funded by Life.Church and donors. It is manned by more than 20 full-time employees and more than 400 volunteers.
In April 2014, YouVersion released version 5 of the Bible app, which introduced community functions and Bible discussions. The Bible app has been downloaded more than 420 million times .
Bible app features
- Audio Bible : Some Bible translations are also available as audio books
- Reading mode : Read online and offline Bibles. The app has a night mode and the choice of fonts and font size . You can also open two Bible translations side by side and optionally read them synchronously .
- Reading plans : Your own or prepared Bible reading plans for the entire Bible, parts of it or thematically. You can also "save it for later".
- Personalization : notes, bookmarks and highlights .
- Search function : The search function requires internet access .
- Synchronization : Reading plans, bookmarks, notes are synchronized on all platforms with a free YouVersion account . Notes for sections can be kept private or shared with others.
- Community : Share Bible verses and reading plan progress on Twitter and Facebook, or via email or SMS .
- Offline use : some versions of the Bible are available for download . Your own notes, bookmarks and markings are also available offline .
