Peter Fenwick
Peter Brooke Cadogan Fenwick (born May 25, 1935 ) is a British neuropsychiatrist and neurophysiologist who specializes in epilepsy research and near-death studies .
biography
After studying science at Trinity College , Cambridge , he completed an internship at St Thomas' Hospital in London . He is Senior Lecturer at King's College London , where he works as a consultant at the Institute of Psychiatry ( IoPPN ). He also works as a neuropsychological advisor at three other hospitals and holds a visiting professorship at the RIKEN Institute in Japan . He is President of the UK Branch of the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS). He has written several works with his wife Elizabeth Fenwick, as well as articles for journals such as the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry and the Journal of Consciousness Studies .
In 2003, Fenwick and cardiologist Sam Parnia appeared in a BBC documentary called The Day I Died . They discussed their views on near-death experiences and explained that, in their opinion, the mind can function independently of the brain even after death. The writer Susan Blackmore criticized the show as "one-sided and dishonest reporting".
