Heinrich Karl Riedel

Heinrich Karl Riedel (born March 20, 1756 in Schleiz in Voigtland , † 1821 in Berlin ) was a German architect , painter , Prussian construction officer and university professor .

Life

He was born as the son of the Bayreuth court architect Johann Gottlieb Riedel . His brothers were the chief building officer Heinrich August Riedel and the architect and painter Karl Christian Riedel . He first learned from his father and received further training as a master builder in Berlin. He became a master builder in the Neumark , where he worked, among other things, as a dike inspector for rebuilding work in the Warthebruch . In 1791 he was transferred to the Lithuanian War and Domain Chamber in Gumbinnen as provincial building director . In 1794 he was appointed to the Oberbaudepartement in Berlin, where in 1795 he was appointed a secret senior building officer. From 1799 to 1820 he taught economic architecture at the Bauakademie . In 1809 he was dismissed, but was further taken into account for special construction tasks.
