Johann Gottlieb Riedel (born October 8, 1722 in Schleiz ; † October 9, 1791 in Bayreuth ) was a German architect, painter and etcher, as well as court building inspector and custodian of the Bayreuth Hermitage , a park opened in 1735.

Life

As a builder and court painter he was in Schleiz for Count Heinrich XII. active from Reuss until 1762 and in 1771 succeeded Rudolf Heinrich Richter at the Princely Court Building Office in Bayreuth. He built the southern wing of Schleiz Castle as well as the two towers, the Jesus Church and the orphanage in Kirschkau and the church in Lösau (today Dehlitz ), where he also created the altar leaves. In Bayreuth he directed the construction of the Hermitage from 1762 as court architect.

The sons Heinrich August , Heinrich Carl and Carl Christian emerged from the marriage with Caroline Eleonore Christiane Büttner .
