Peter Fischer (museologist)

Peter Fischer (born June 29, 1943 in Magdeburg ; † September 1, 1996 ) was a German museologist , ethnographer and local history researcher.

Live and act

After attending primary school in his native Magdeburg, Peter Fischer started an apprenticeship as a bricklayer in 1959 and then did his 18-month military service.

From 1963 he studied at the technical college for museology in Weißenfels , where he met Hartmut Bock , with whom he later worked together scientifically and as a journalist. Peter Fischer continued his technical school education in Meißen and Leipzig and finished it in 1969 with a degree as a museologist. He worked as an assistant at the District Home Museum Genthin and the District Home Museum Schönebeck in Bad Salzelmen , before he became director of the Johann Friedrich Danneil Museum in Salzwedel and at the same time of the Diesdorf open-air museum in 1970 .

In 1972 Peter Fischer began studying German folklore (ethnography) at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he graduated in 1977 with a degree in ethnography.

When the Diesdorf open-air museum was separated from the Danneil-Museum Salzwedel in 1989, Peter Fischer took over the management of the open-air museum. He died in 1996 at the age of 54. His grave is in the Diesdorf cemetery .

In cooperation and a. With the former city archivist of Salzwedel, Ingelore Fischer, and Hartmut Bock, he did research in various archives and libraries on numerous cultural-historical and ethnographic topics of the Altmark and published several of his own writings and articles on them.
