Peter Groeschler

Peter Gröschler (* 1967 ) is a German lawyer and professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

Life

From 1987 Gröschler studied law at the University of Passau . There he passed his first state examination in law in 1991. This was followed by his doctorate with Ulrich Manthe , which he also completed in Passau before his second state examination. Parts of the work at the University of Catania were carried out during a DAAD research stay . In 1995 he passed his second state examination in Passau and then devoted himself to his habilitation.

In the 2000/01 winter semester, Gröschler held a chair at the University of Heidelberg and finally completed his habilitation. With this he acquired the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, Roman law and the history of private law in modern times. Since the summer semester 2001 he has held the chair for civil law and Roman law at the University of Mainz . Since 2006 he has also been a regular visiting professor at the University of Trento in Italy.

Gröschler's main research interests are in ancient banking and commercial law, the history of civil law, and credit security law.
