Alexander Hopff

Alexander Hopff (born February 10, 1965 in Hagen ) is a German jazz musician, lecturer and author.

Hopff began playing the piano at the age of eight and performed publicly as a pianist for the first time at the age of ten. In 1983 he was one of the winners of Jugend jazzt . From 1990 to 1996 Hopff studied at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold , Dortmund department with Andy Lumpp (jazz piano) and Roland Pröll (classical piano) with a state examination. He completed his studies in popular music at the Hamburg Pop Course at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , with Karin Ploog and Jane Comerford (vocals) among others . During a theater production in Wiesbaden he learned the accordion by himself.

Alexander Hopff worked in jazz ensembles and played with Sebastian Gille and Jay Oliver , among others . In 2007 Hopff gave a concert at the Nice Jazz Festival with his jazz trio and US entertainer Movin Melvin Brown . In addition, Hopff was vocal accompanist for Corinna May (guest performance in China 2006), Deborah Sasson and for the music cabaret artist Nessi Tausendschön (regular tour companion from 1990 to 1996). Hopff worked as a musician on many Hamburg theaters, B. at the musical Sister Soul at the Altona Theater or the Ringelnatz evening Kuddeldaddeldu at the comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus with the Hamburg folk actor Jan Fedder . With his jazz trio, Hopff traveled to 100 countries around the world on the ZDF dream ship Germany .

Alexander Hopff has been a guest lecturer at the pop course at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater since 1996. He has also been giving concerts with the Klezmer Ensemble Mischpoke throughout Germany since 2000 . In 2016 Alexander Hopff is also on the road with the singer-songwriter Gerrit Hoss .
