Peter Green (referee)
Peter Daniel Green (born May 29, 1978 in Brisbane , Queensland ) is an Australian football referee . He has been a FIFA referee since 2006 .
Career
Green has been whistling games in the A-League , the highest Australian division, since 2002 . Since 2008 he has also been active in the AFC Champions League . He led the Grand Final between the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Central Coast Mariners (0-2) in the 2012/13 season . Due to his good performance in this game, he was allowed to direct the Grand Final again the following season , which Brisbane Roar won 2-1 against the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Controversy
During the 2009/10 A League semi-finals between Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix , Sydney striker Chris Payne scored a goal with his arm that Green overlooked. This event sparked a great debate about the use of technical aids.
