Peter Harkort (entrepreneur, 1820)

Peter Harkort (born September 26, 1820 on Gut Schede ; May 25, 1888 ibid) was a German entrepreneur and member of the Harkort family .

Origin and life

Harkort was the son of the entrepreneur Peter Harkort (1786–1822) and his wife Christiane Harkort geb. Wille (1794-1873). He was a Protestant denomination and married Wilhelmine Brüggelmann (1833-1919).

He was a hammer mill and landowner . The company Peter Harkort & Sohn specialized in the production of cement steel from 1843 . A rolling mill was built in 1851 . During the founding crisis , the company ran into difficulties and was briefly (1873–1876) converted into the Schöntaler Stahl- und Eisenwerke stock corporation.

In 1860 (deputy), 1861 to 1864 and 1885 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Westphalia for the constituency of Mark and the collective cities of the district of Hagen .

Like his parents, he is buried in the Harkort hereditary cemetery.
