Life

After attending primary school, Harsch worked as a worker in the iron and steel industry from 1888 to 1904. Afterwards he acted in Herzogenrath as district manager of the union of Christian miners in the worm area .

Harsch joined the Center Party in 1899 and was later deputy chairman of the Center Party Aachen-Land. He worked as a sociopolitical employee at the center's press organ and wrote articles for the trade union press. From 1908 to 1924 he was a city councilor in Herzogenrath. He was also a member of the district council of the Aachen district and chairman of the center group there. From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he belonged until the body was dissolved on October 14, 1933. In parliament he represented constituency 20 (Cologne-Aachen).

During the time of National Socialism , Harsch had to give up his trade union work and then went into a commercial activity. In 1944 he was arrested as part of the “ Aktion Gewitter ”. Presumably he died on January 14, 1945 in his apartment in Jena-Ziegenhain and not in custody.

Peter Harsch was married to Anna Maria Kronibus († 1924) since 1901. The connection resulted in nine children. He later married Klara Klimek.

In 2015, the Catholic Church accepted Peter Harsch as a witness of faith in the German martyrology of the 20th century .
