Peter Jehle (pilot)

Alfred Peter David Jehle (born December 3, 1922 in Munich ; † February 12, 2015 ) was a German pilot .

Life

Jehle had been an aviator since he was 16. After training as an aircraft engine builder at BMW , he worked as a pilot during World War II. After 1950 he continued his career as a flight captain with a number of airlines including Hadag Air and General Air in Hamburg. He worked as a flight instructor, official expert and examiner for private pilots. In total, he completed more than 33,000 flights. At the age of 85 he was still working as a volunteer flight instructor.

Awards

On August 6, 2007, Jehle received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to the promotion of general aviation.
