Peter Jochimsen

Rolf Peter Jochimsen (born October 28, 1950 in Eckernförde ) is a German educator , poet and author . He was rector of the Kiel University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Peter Jochimsen was born as the third child of Hans-Peter and Ilse (née Harrs) Jochimsen. He grew up right on the beach in Eckernförde. His parents were booksellers. After National Socialism and the Second World War, Hans-Peter Jochimsen was involved in building up social democracy in Schleswig-Holstein , became editor of the Volkszeitung in Kiel and then went to Bonn as a speaker for various federal ministers, initially as personal and press officer for Lauritz Lauritzen . Peter Jochimsen's childhood was shaped by his father's political work and the cultural events that accompanied his father as a journalist.

At 19 he began studying special education and graduate education. After four years he had completed both studies. At the University of Education in Kiel (today Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel ) he received his doctorate in education .

In 1972, while still a student, he took over the management of the Kiel-Mettendorf dyslexia ambulatory as a part-time position. In 1974 Jochimsen took up a position as a special school teacher for behavioral disorders in the closed state youth home in Selent. A year later he became headmaster of the home school for behavioral disorders in Büsum and took in the first two foster children . Other foster and adopted children followed.

In the same year he began a position as a lecturer at the University of Education in Kiel for communication theory and the psychology of deviant behavior.

In 1978 he applied for a professorship for play education at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences and, at the age of 28, got a job as a teacher for special tasks . At the Kiel University of Applied Sciences he devoted himself to experiential education . He was and was first teacher , then senior teacher and balance ladder before the professor received. The faculty council then elected him vice dean and he headed the field of alternative public education. He contributed significantly to bringing the game and theater pedagogy course to life. From 1993 to 1997 Peter Jochimsen was rector of the Kiel University of Applied Sciences. During this time, Jochimsen worked as an advisor to the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Culture .

In 1996 Jochimsen fell ill with leukemia . After completing his hospital stay and his term as rector , he retired at the age of 46. However, he continued to work as a consultant and appraiser and became the managing director of a private provider of voluntary welfare with many social projects in various countries. In 2004 he became managing director and academic director of the Baltic Sea International Campus on the site of the former technical college for construction in Eckernförde, after having fought for the preservation of this technical college in the Baltic Sea city for two years.

Jochimsen is chairman of the board of trustees of the Peter Jochimsen Foundation in Eckernförde.

Literary work

In 1985, Jochimsen's first volume of short stories went to print in Eckernförde under the pseudonym Ido Schwansen . In 2002, Borbyer Werkstatt Verlag published a collection of his lyrical texts under the title Edition Skins . He made literature his profession in 2007 with the novel Dead in the Bath . His most famous poem is called Breakfast . In this he describes his love for the morning meal, the simplicity and uniqueness of his eating habits.
