Peter Kerlin (born August 28, 1954 in Königslutter am Elm ) is a folk musician who has been actively rooted in the German Celtic folk scene since the 1970s.

Musical biography

Kerlin gained his first musical stage and studio experience during his studies in Göttingen (teacher training course) with formations such as Aimen & friends, Mackinaw and Aldaron. He also performed as a solo artist and won a competition for young talent in the Göttingen trendy bar Nörgelbuff .

After completing his studies, Kerlin first moved to Bad Hersfeld for professional reasons and from 1982 to Goslar, which is still his place of residence today.

In 1985, Kerlin founded the folk duo Taters & Pie (Irish & American Folk) together with Thomas Amthor, a collaboration that lasted until 1996 and was characterized by many concerts in Germany and neighboring countries. A total of four recordings are created in the almost twelve years of their cooperation.

Since the end of Taters & Pie, Peter Kerlin has dedicated himself to his work as a solo artist. He also frequently works with the multi-instrumentalist Jens Kommnick , both at live concerts and in the studio. This collaboration continues to this day and since then five solo albums have been created, each recorded together with Jens Kommnick. Peter Kerlin can be seen live as a soloist and in a duo with Jens Kommnick.

Since 2016, Kerlin has also worked with the Scottish singer-songwriter Ian Smith. The two regularly tour Germany together.
