Peter Knitsch
Peter Knitsch (born May 15, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) is a German political official . From 2003 to 2005 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Agriculture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein and from 2013 to 2017 State Secretary in the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
Life and work
From 1982 onwards, Knitsch studied law, history and sociology at the University of Bonn . After the first state examination in 1988 in Bonn, he worked until 1991 at the University's Criminological Institute (Prof. Marquart) as part of a research project on cooperation between environmental administration and law enforcement authorities. Second state examination in law in 1994 in Düsseldorf. 1994/95, from 2005 to 2010 and from 2018 work as an independent lawyer in Erkrath . From 1995 to 2003 and from 2010 various functions in the NRW Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
Knitsch is married and has three children.

Before his appointment as State Secretary, Knitsch headed the Consumer Protection Department in the NRW Environment Ministry. From 2003 to 2005 he already held the position of State Secretary in the Simonis III cabinet in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture. Between 1984 and 2013 he was, with interruptions, chairman of the district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the district of Mettmann and a member of the city council of Erkrath. a. Chairman of the parliamentary group and leader of the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. Since 2014 Knitsch has been the spokesman for the local association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Erkrath and has been a member of the City Council of Erkrath again since December 2018.
From February 19, 2013 to June 30, 2017 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, led by Johannes Remmel ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) .
