Peter Korneffel (born November 19, 1962 in Münster ) is a German journalist and author.

Life

Peter Korneffel graduated from the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster with a diploma in education in 1988 . After managing a youth center for two years, he toured Germany as a solo cabaret artist until 1993.

Since the 1990s he has been writing reports abroad in the fields of economy, environment and geography, including for Die Zeit , GEO , Mare and Terra Mater magazine . From 1994 to 2008 he worked as a freelance correspondent and reporter in South America and Spain.

In 1999 he wrote his first travel guide about Ecuador in the MAI's World Guide series. Since 2008 he has also been the author of the DuMont Travel Guide Ecuador / Galápagos Islands .

In 2016 his book Biermanufakturen in Berlin was published , a scene guide to microbrewers and the history of brewing in Berlin.

Prizes and awards

Together with the MAGNUM photographer Alex Webb , Korneffel was awarded the renowned "Hansel Mieth Prize" in 2000 for the MARE report War in the Mangroves . In 2001 the Federal President awarded him the »Development Policy Media Prize«. The ZEIT readers ' trip "Ecuador - Humboldts grandiose Reise" developed by Peter Korneffel was awarded the "Golden Palm" by GEO Saison .
