Peter Kracht (born May 6, 1956 ) is a German journalist and historian .

Life

Kracht studied from 1976 to 1982 at the Ruhr University in Bochum , in 1989 he received his doctorate with a thesis on ancient trade relations ( ancient history ). After many years as the editor of a daily newspaper ( Hellweger Anzeiger ), he is a freelance journalist and author .

Kracht is head of the history department in the Westphalian Heimatbund , since 2003 chief specialist for culture at the Sauerland mountain association , since 2005 cultural supervisor of the German hiking association and district home keeper in the Unna district . As an editor, he is responsible for the local calendar of the Soest district and, since 2005, the yearbook of Westphalia . He has been the mayor in Unna-Massen since 2014 . In 2015 he was appointed to the German National Committee for Monument Protection .

Peter Kracht lives with his family in Unna-Massen.
