In 1989 he became editor at Yleisradio in Helsinki (Finland) and moved to Radio Hamburg the next year . From 1991 to 1996 he worked for NDR , first for radio and in the press office, then as program editor for television.

In 1996, Peter Müller founded the Ratgeberverlag after having been a part-time book author for years. After starting out as a travel journalist, Müller specialized in the following years as a medical journalist , and the publishing house now also focuses on advisory literature, primarily in the health sector. In addition to the book publisher, the company operates the "Medienbüro Medizin" editorial office. Müller headed the editorial office until 2000 and the Ratgeberverlag until 2002. He resigned both functions in favor of his work for the Health Foundation.

The Health Foundation

Since it was founded in 1996, Peter Müller has worked for the non-profit Foundation Health , initially on a voluntary basis and since 2004 full-time. As a nationwide social enterprise, the foundation is dedicated to “transparency in the health care system” and for this purpose operates, among other things, an online doctor directory and a certification system for health publications. Under Müller's aegis, several series of studies were also developed that analyze the situation in the German health system. A special focus very early on was the topic of e-health . Müller is a board member of the HIMSS DA-CH community.

Müller initially acted on a voluntary basis as press spokesman for the Health Foundation until he - then full-time - was elected chairman of the board in 2004. In this role, he played a key role in establishing the foundation. In 2012 and 2015 he was confirmed for a further term by the Foundation's Board of Trustees. The board of trustees was headed by Peter Oberender until 2015 and by Nobert Klusen since 2015.
