Peter Madsen (born May 12, 1958 in Århus , Denmark ) is a Danish comic artist , illustrator , screenwriter and film director .

life and work

Peter Madsen, born in Århus in 1958 , grew up in twelve different places in Denmark .

Madsen originally wanted to study medicine, but instead preferred to become an illustrator and storyteller. He made his debut in 1973 with several attempts at Seriemagasinet .

On the initiative of the comic book publisher " Interpresse ", Peter Madsen and Henning Kure were involved in the process of creating the humorous Viking series Walhalla in 1977 . From 1979 to 2009 the publisher published a 15-part series of albums on the subject of this Nordic mythology and legends.

In 1990 an album was released based on his experiences as a young medical student. In the same year the comic was voted album of the year by the Danish Comic Book Conference.

In addition to working on Walhalla , Peter Madsen also works as an illustrator , painter , designer and lecturer .

Madsen became internationally known above all as the screenwriter and director of the comic book Valhalla , which he drew and which he also successfully filmed in 1986 as an animation animation Walhalla . The music for the film was composed by the British composer Ron Goodwin .

Madsen has received numerous international awards and honors for his work.

Peter Madsen lives and works in Silkeborg with his wife and four children.
