Peter Noone ( ['piːtə' nuːn] ; born November 5, 1947 in Manchester , England ; actually Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone ) is a British pop singer , actor and television presenter . In the 1960s, as was Noone Herman lead singer, pianist , guitarist and saxophonist of the beat band Herman's Hermits .

Noone has played as a child star in the British television - Soap Coronation Street and had guest roles in other series. He studied acting and singing in Manchester. In 1963, the 15-year-old joined the band The Heartbeats , discovered by Mickie Most and when Herman's Hermits became one of the most successful bands of the British Invasion . After separating from the Hermits, Noone started a solo career under his real name in 1971 and had a hit with David Bowie's song Oh, You Pretty Thing , on which Bowie played the piano himself: Noone's single reached number twelve on the British charts . Bowie later released the song in his own version as Oh! You Pretty Things on the album Hunky Dory .

Noone settled in France and returned to Herman's Hermits for a few gigs in 1973 . In the late 1970s he tried a comeback in the USA with the band The Tremblers . In 1982 he released a solo album entitled One of the Glory Boys . At the same time he appeared on Broadway as Frederic in the lead role in the musical The Pirates of Penzance , which he later played in London's Drury Lane Theater and with touring groups. Further stage and television roles followed. For four years he was the presenter of the oldie show My Generation on VH1 . For several years now, Peter Noone has been touring with Herman's Hermits on a regular basis . He performs mainly in England and the United States today.

Peter Noone has been married to Mireille Strasser since 1968 and they have one daughter.
