Peter Protschka (born June 10, 1977 in Cologne ) is a German jazz trumpeter and composer who can also be heard as a classical soloist, especially in early music.

Protschka has been active on the German and European scene as a jazz soloist, especially with his own groups, but also as a sought-after sideman since his jazz diploma at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in 2003. In 2005 he passed a jazz concert exam at the Cologne University of Music and Dance . Since 2000 he has also been writing music for his formations, which are based on the American post-bop idiom, but always have a very personal European touch.

Since 2006 there have been regular publications with Protschka as leader or sideman with musicians such as Paul Heller , Dejan Terzic , Allen Blairman or Thomas Stabenow . Protschka has been working with the latter for many years in his jazz quintet, which tours Europe every year. In 2004 he was awarded the jazz scholarship of the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation. In 2010 he also obtained a Master of Music in baroque trumpet at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.
