Jürgen Seefelder

Jürgen Seefelder (born May 19, 1954 in Memmingen ) is a German jazz musician ( tenor , alto and soprano saxophone , flute ).

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Seefelder studied from 1974 to 1979 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . He then taught at Joe Haider's jazz school in Munich. He also performed with his own groups, but also played in the Vienna Art Orchestra , the big bands of Al Porcino , Bobby Burgess and Harald Rüschenbaum and the combos of Charly Antolini , Barbara Dennerlein , Dusko Goykovich , Joe Nay , Klaus Weiss and the Brazilian group “ Azymuth ". In 1986 he represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the European Broadcasting Union . He was a member of the “Munich Saxophone Family” and has been the first tenor player since 1990 with Erwin Lehn . In 1993 he was appointed professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim .

With Thomas Stabenow and Guido May , Seefelder released the album Straight Horn for enja in 1999 . He maintains a trio with Thomas Stabenow and Dejan Terzic and a quintet, which he leads together with Ingrid Jensen . His group Cruisin ' includes Keith Copeland , Marc Abrams and Rainer Boehm ( David Friedman , Johannes Enders and Carolyn Breuer are also involved in the CD of the same name ). He is also a member of Uta Dobberthien's quartet. He was also involved in recordings by Karl Ratzer , Joe Malinga, Carlo Mombelli , Russ Spiegel and the Frankfurt Jazz Bigband .

Seefelder received the German Phono Academy Award in 1980 and was awarded the City of Munich Music Award in 1989.
