Peter Reichenberger

Peter Reichenberger (born October 13, 1945 in Halle an der Saale ; † July 26, 2004 in Cologne ) was a German painter. In 2006 the entire artist estate was transferred to the Peter Reichenberger Foundation.

life and work

Peter Reichenberger lived in Cologne since 1947 and attended the Severinswall secondary school from 1956. He then trained as a graphic designer. From 1965 to 1967 he did military service and worked for the soldier's courier. From 1967 to 1973 he studied free painting at the Cologne factory schools . He was a master student of Professor Karl Marx . During this time, the first objects and canvases were created that were directly processed with the finger (fingerprint). In 1968 he moved into a studio in Nörvenich Castle . The sculptor Ulrich Rückriem also worked here . During his part-time teaching as an art teacher, he studied art history and ethnology at the University of Cologne . In 1982 he moved to the Alte Wachsfabrik studio in Cologne-Rodenkirchen . Peter Reichenberger has been working as a freelance artist since 1986. The first canvases were created with two-tone overlays of palm prints (HTA 0-90 °). In 1995 he married Stefanie Claudi. The marriage ended in 2003. Peter Reichenberger traveled extensively in the Sahara, the Middle East, Asia and America. On July 26, 2004, Peter Reichenberger had a fatal accident.
