Peter Riethe

Peter Riethe (born June 30, 1921 in Bingen am Rhein ; † March 20, 2020 in Tübingen ) was a German dentist and professor of dentistry who also dealt with Hildegard von Bingen's natural history and medicine .

Life

Peter Riethe was promoted to Dr. med. dent. PhD. Paul Diepgen supervised his work on tooth and mouth problems with Hildegard von Bingen . In 1955 a scientific work followed on the occurrence of 4th molars in the primate stem . In 1956 he examined the relics of the Gudula of Brussels and fitted teeth from the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula (Brussels) into the head from the Eibinger reliquary , which proved that the relics matched one another.

Until his retirement, Peter Riethe was a full professor at the dental clinic at the University of Tübingen . From 1979, he was editor of the club for dental hygiene magazine published caries prevention , which in 1983 oral prophylaxis has been renamed. His book Caries prophylaxis and conservative therapy (published in 1988 as volume 6 of the series of color atlases of dentistry ) was translated into French in 1990 and into Italian in 1992.

Particularly after his retirement, he devoted himself to the natural and medicinal work of Hildegard von Bingen and published all nine books of Physica in seven volumes in an annotated translation between 1991 and 2007 .
