Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer

Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer (born May 30, 1956 in Bonn ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). Since April 2017 he has been managing director of UN refugee aid in Bonn.

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1976, Ruhenstroth-Bauer studied political science and law in Bonn until 1983 . In 1987 he passed his second state examination in law. From 1987 to 1991 he was first editor and then studio manager of the radio agency "RADIO-DIENST-BONN". In 1992 he switched to the Saarland representation at the federal government in Bonn, since 1996 as head of the department, from 1998 in charge of taking care of business as the Saarland representative at the federal government . 1998, at the start of the SPD-Green Party government, he was Uwe-Karsten Heye , the then government spokesman and head of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government , with the official title of Assistant Secretary to Deputy Head of the Press and Information Office appointed by the Federal Government. After the federal elections in 2002, Federal Minister Renate Schmidt appointed him Permanent State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. He resigned from this office when Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen took office at the end of 2005. Until 2017, Ruhenstroth-Bauer worked as a lawyer in his own law firm as a communications and strategy consultant. In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2015 , he ran as the SPD candidate for the office of Lord Mayor of Bonn, but was defeated on September 13, 2015 with 23.68% of the valid votes cast in the first ballot Ashok-Alexander Sridharan (CDU). Since April 2017 he has been managing director of UN refugee aid in Bonn. Ruhenstroth-Bauer is married and has four sons.

Teaching

In 2007/08 he was a lecturer for political communication / government communication at the University of Koblenz-Landau . Since 2008/09 he has been a lecturer at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in the journalism / media management department and a lecturer at the University of Potsdam in the administration / organization department.
