Peter Stein

Peter Stein (born January 18, 1968 in Siegen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). 2006 to 2011 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ; since 2013 he has been a member of the Bundestag .

Life

Stein graduated from school in 1987 with the Abitur at the Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium in Herchen . He then studied to become a graduate spatial planner (architect for urban planning) at the University of Dortmund until 1993 . He worked as a freelancer until 1994, after which he became an employee of the Hanseatic City of Rostock . As an urban planner, he is a member of the Chamber of Architects . From 1999 to 2003 Stein was the deputy mayor of Mönchhagen municipality .

He is Protestant, married and has two grown children from his first marriage.

politics

Until 2014, Stein was a community representative and member of the construction committee in his home town of Mönchhagen. He has been a member of the district council since 2004 and is chairman of the economic committee there. Peter Stein is a member of the CDU district association of the Rostock district. Since the state election in 2006 , he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania through a direct mandate in constituency 12 (Bad Doberan II) . He was spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group for regional development as well as integration and migration. In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011 , he left the state parliament.

In the 2013 federal election , Stein won the direct mandate in the Rostock constituency - Rostock II district (constituency 14), which Steffen Bockhahn previously held. Stein is a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development. He is also a member of the energy efficiency group, the climate group and the Nordic parliamentary group. In addition, in the German Society of the United Nations DGVN , in the German-Vietnamese Society, in the Maghreb Parliamentary Group and in the ASEAN Group. The two parliamentary advisory councils for sustainable development and e-mobility complete the range of tasks.

He is one of the 75 members of the Union who voted for same-sex marriage at the end of June 2017 .

For the 2017 federal election , Peter Stein again won the direct mandate in the Rostock constituency - Rostock II district (constituency 14).
