Peter Straughan
Peter Straughan (* 1968 ) is a British playwright and screenwriter .
Life
Straughan grew up in Gateshead , in north east England. He completed an English degree at Newcastle University and was initially active as a musician. In the 1990s he wrote several plays and radio plays for the radio. He has also worked as a screenwriter since the early 2000s. Here he worked closely with the screenwriter Bridget O'Connor , who died in September 2010. The two had been married since 2008. They had a child together.
In 2011 he directed his first short film with Gee Gee .
Together, he and O'Connor were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay in 2012 for their screenplay for the novel Dame, König, As, Spion . In the same year they won the British Academy Film Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and were also recognized at the Online Film Critics Society Awards .
