Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore
The Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore is a 3600-hectare low-moor landscape consisting of low and raised bogs on the Loisach in Upper Bavaria , which is under nature protection. The majority of the area is designated as both a FFH and bird sanctuary . The Sindelbachfilz belonging to the area is a nature reserve . They are part of the Tölzer Moor Axis .
The geomorphological structure of the moor landscape was shaped at the end of the Würme Ice Age by the Isar-Loisach Glacier and extends between Penzberg in the north and the Kochelsee in the south, and between Sindelsdorf / Schlehdorf in the west and Benediktbeuern in the east. For around 1000 years, the moorland has been made agriculturally usable by the Benediktbeuern and Schlehdorf monasteries , which has created, among other things, species-rich littered meadows .
The moorland is an extensive, yet contiguous wetland area, which sometimes offers a habitat for many endangered creatures, such as the curlew , the common snipe , the kingfisher , the lapwing and the whinchat . In winter there are Harrier , Marsh Harrier , shrike , Krick- and goldeneye and many other bird species in the moorlands. A total of over 200 bird species have been recorded, including many meadow breeders , which is why special attention is paid to these when setting up protection.
The Isar-Loisach-Moore area management, which is taken over by the nature conservation office of the Center for Environment and Culture Benediktbeuern , takes care of the development and protection of the moor .
