Peter Tico Keller

Peter "Tico" Keller (born February 10, 1942 in Turgi ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( double bass ) and electrical engineer.

Live and act

During his apprenticeship in Baden, Keller worked as a piano player in dance bands before he switched to bass in 1960. He learned the bass playing an autodidact . His interest in jazz was aroused by radio broadcasts from the soldier station AFN and from Lance Tschannen at Radio Beromünster . He started in regional bands with Dixieland in the 1960s, but then played country music between 1970 and 1975 . Since 1980 he has been playing modern jazz in the Erich Gandet Quintet, which has also accompanied the singer Marianne Benz since 2002. Since 1992 he has led his own quartet Quartico . He was also involved in various Tonic Strings projects as well as with the Jazz Travelers , the vocal jazz group AllThatJazz and the Ismael Reinhardt Quartet . He can also be heard on recordings with songwriter Dieter Wiesmann , whom he accompanied between 1980 and 1987.

Furthermore, Keller works as a bass restaurateur and as an organizer of jazz concerts; He was on the board of the Jazz Association in Baden for about 15 years , including 4 years as president.
