Peter Ulrich (theologian)

Peter A. Ulrich (born July 12, 1953 in Bremen ) is a German Protestant theologian and cathedral preacher at the Bremen Cathedral as well as non-fiction author .

biography

Ulrich is the only son of the businessman Günter Ulrich and his wife Annemarie Ulrich, b. Wrissenberg. He attended elementary school on Baumschulenweg in Bremen from 1960 to 1964 and there from 1964 to 1972 high school on Hermann-Böse-Straße . After a semester of law at the University of Tübingen and completing his basic military service in the German Navy , he studied Protestant theology from 1974 to 1979 at the Church of Wuppertal and at the University of Göttingen .
As Repetent the Evangelical Church in Bremen at the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Göttingen he started in 1979 under the direction of Professor Rudolf Smend (Old Testament) his theological dissertation on Hermann Schultz 'Old Testament Theology' in the context of his life and work , with which he 1989 Göttingen received his doctorate .

Ulrich completed his vicariate at the United Protestant Congregation of the Mayor Smidt Memorial Church in Bremerhaven from 1983 to 1985 , where he was elected assistant preacher in 1985 and pastor in 1986.
In 1992 he moved to the Evangelical Lutheran St. Petri Cathedral Church in Bremen . In addition to parish work - youth and adult work / educational work: lectures and seminars - his focus here is on the history of the cathedral, the history of the church in Bremen and the history of people in Bremen.

He has been married to Juliane Ulrich, b. Trummler, and has a daughter.
