Franz Peter Wirtz (born January 15, 1960 in Königswinter ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). He is mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Königswinter.

Life

Peter Wirtz attended the Catholic kindergarten of the St. Remigius community in Königswinter and then the Catholic elementary school in the old town. In 1978 he graduated from the Ernst-Kalkuhl-Gymnasium in Bonn-Oberkassel . After graduating from high school, he completed an administrative internship with the city of Königswinter. From 1980 to 1983 he studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia in Cologne and graduated with a degree in administration . After that he worked continuously in the city administration of Königswinter: from 1984 to 1990 in the office for schools, sport and culture, from 1990 to 1993 in the citizen advice of the main office, there also as a personal employee of the then city director Franz-Josef Schmitz, from 1993 to 1996 as head of the main department and from 1996 to 1999 as head of the cultural administration.

Wirtz has three daughters.

He was a member of the board of the Beautification Society for the Siebengebirge (VVS). In the Sankt Sebastianus male rifle brotherhood 1547 Königswinter e. V. he is committed and was the rifle king from 2012 to 2014.

Mayor's office

In the mayoral election in 1999, Peter Wirtz was elected mayor of Königswinter with 59.87 percent of the vote as the successor to Herbert Krämer. In 2004 and 2009 he was re-elected; In 2004 with 71.34 percent of the valid votes and in 2009 with 67.25 percent of the valid votes. In the municipal elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014 , he was confirmed as mayor for another six years with a share of the vote of 59.86 percent.
