Peter York Solmssen (born January 24, 1955 in Philadelphia ) is an American-German manager.

Life

Solmssen, son of American lawyers and authors Arthur Solmssen , great-grandson Robert Warschauer and descendant of banker Alexander Mendelssohn and Joseph Mendelssohn , became " magna cum laude " a bachelor Accounts at Harvard University and then went with a Knox Fellowship at the University Cambridge in Great Britain . He received a doctorate in law from the University of Pennsylvania .

From 1980 he worked as a lawyer , partly at the Federal District Court of the Eastern District of Philadelphia, from 1982 he worked for a law firm in Philadelphia for securities law. From 1989 he worked for the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, in Philadelphia as a senior partner. There Solmssen was responsible for securities law, international law and mergers & acquisitions.

In 1998 he joined General Electric , where he is based in Pittsfield , Massachusetts , Vice President and General Counsel ( General Counsel ) from GE Plastics was. In the years that followed, Solmssen took on additional roles at General Electric: He became Vice President and General Counsel of GE Medical Systems in Waukesha , Wisconsin in 2002 and Executive Vice President and General Counsel of GE Healthcare, Chalfont St Giles , UK in 2004 .

From October 2007 to December 2013, Solmssen was a member of the Executive Board and General Counsel of Siemens AG , Munich.
