Peter van der Ka

Peter van der Ka , sometimes also Peter von der Ka , (born February 21, 1688 in Antwerp , † in the 18th century ) was a sculptor and Jesuit .

Life

Peter van der Ka entered the Jesuit order on December 14, 1710. After completing his novitiate , he worked as a sculptor for 13 years. For the next eleven years he was sacristan in Courtrai . In 1736 he resigned from the order.

Works

Peter van der Ka created a communion bench made of white and red marble for the Maria-Himmelfahrts-Kirche in Cologne based on a design by Adam von Wihlig . It was completed in 1724 and was adorned with “masterfully crafted openwork panels”. These showed tendrils and putti cavorting between them. The communion bench was destroyed in World War II.
