Peter von Sivers (historian)

Peter von Sivers (* 1940 ) is an American historian.

Life

After graduating from the Städtisches Realgymnasium Koblenz in 1960, he studied political science , history and culture of the Middle East, philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (1960–1967) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (autumn ) with Eric Voegelin and Hans-Joachim Kißling 1964). He had grants from the Volkswagen Foundation, the Earhart Foundation and the British Council (1964–1967).

After graduating as Dr. phil. (magna cum laude, Philosophical Faculty, LMU) in July 1967 he was assistant at the Institute for Political Science, University of Munich, 1967–1968; Visiting Assistant Professor, 1968–1969, and Lecturer, Department of History, UCLA , 1970–1975; Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Northwestern University , 1969–1970 and since 1975 Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Utah .
