Thommy's Pop Show

Thommy's Pop Show was a music show with Thomas Gottschalk on ZDF . It started on November 27, 1982, about five months after Otto Waalkes went on air with the similarly named Ronny's Pop Show on ZDF.

A total of eleven episodes were broadcast. In the original program, Thommy's Pop Show , Gottschalk presented music videos and invited a studio guest. Nine episodes were shown until December 3, 1983. Two episodes were broadcast as Thommy's Pop Show at the end of the year on December 17, 1983 and December 8, 1984, in which numerous artists performed with playback in the Westfalenhalle Dortmund . Gottschalk handed the show over to Peter Illmann in 1984 .

The live shows were continued by Peter Illmann and Kristiane Backer at the end of the year as Peters Pop Show and ZDF Pop Show respectively . They became a tradition on ZDF; Until 1993, the program was recorded regularly before Christmas in the Westfalenhalle with several thousand viewers and broadcast in the late evening and night programs. It was then repeated on New Year's Eve. International artists such as Depeche Mode , Mike Oldfield , Whitney Houston , Genesis , Scorpions , Take That or Bon Jovi as well as German interpreters such as Nena , Die Toten Hosen and Die Prinzen performed at the concerts, which lasted several hours . Peters Pop Show

Thommy's Pop Show then emerged as Peters Pop Show in 1985 . This was up to eight times in 1992 by Peter Illman presented the previously already the music broadcast Formula One in the ARD and since 1985 also the PIT - Peter Illman-Treff moderated on ZDF.

ZDF Pop Show

At the end of 1993 the show was presented again as a ZDF Pop Show and hosted by Kristiane Backer , known from MTV . After that the show was stopped.

According to the ZDF, the live shows were also seen a lot abroad. In 1986, Peter's Pop Show was broadcast in 23 different countries. The last edition from 1993 was reportedly followed by 400 million viewers worldwide.
